Operating History
Ocean Rig owns and operates Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude, two of the world's largest and most modern drilling rigs, built for ultra deep water and extreme weather conditions.
The Leiv Eiriksson has drilled 37 deepwater and ultra deepwater wells in Angola, Congo, Norway, UK and Ireland whilst working for Exxon, BP, Chevron, Total and Shell.
The Erik Raude has drilled 29 deepwater and ultra deepwater wells in Canada, US Gulf of Mexico, Cuba, Ghana and Norway, whilst working for Encana, PetroCanada, Imperial Oil, Repsol, StatoilHydro, ENI, Chevron, Exxon and Tullow Oil.
The Eirik Raude also drilled 4 wells in the Barents Sea under extreme harsh weather conditions.
