• Ocean Rig UDW announces award of drilling contract for two newbuild drillships

  On May 11th 2011 the Company announced two drilling contracts with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. ("Petrobras") for operation offshore Brazil for two of its new built drillships, the Ocean Rig Corcovado and the Ocean Rig Mykonos. The term of the contracts are three years each with a total combined value of USD 1,1 billion.

  The company has recently ordered two more drill ships for construction at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Korea. The drill ships are scheduled for delivery in July and October 2013.

• Ocean Rig prepared for the Greenland Operation

  On May 5th the Ocean Rig Corcovado commenced its voyage from Peterhead to Greenland. The drillship has been successfully prepared for the Greenland Campaign, including installation of Cairn 3rd party equipment bunkering for drilling of three wells. We expect to arrive the well-site in about 8 days.

  Naming Ceremony for the Company's two first Drill Ships took place at the Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in Korea on December 16th . Godmother of Ocean Rig Corcovado is Jann Brown, Financial Director of Cairn Energy PLC. Godmother of Ocean Rig Olympia is Olga Plaksina, Chairperson of the Group Executive Board of Vanco.

• Letter of Award

  On September 28th DryShips Inc. announced that its fully owned subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. has received a Letter of Award for a four well contract for exploration drilling offshore West Africa.
